Speaker Bios
Ryan Buist
MBA, CBV, CFA
Ryan is a Chartered Business Valuator who joined Portage M&A Advisory as VP of M&A and Valuations in 2021 and became a partner in 2022. Prior to Portage, Ryan worked as a Business Valuation Specialist at Taylor Leibow and spent several years as a proprietary equities trader before pursuing his MBA.
During Ryan’s MBA, he completed co-ops with OSFI (Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions), which regulates federally registered banks, and Global Governance Advisors, a firm specializing in compensation, succession planning, and corporate governance. In both roles, he regularly interacted with senior management and boards of directors.
Ryan focuses on business valuation and transaction advisory, helping entrepreneurs grow through strategic acquisitions or exit effectively with tailored divestiture strategies. He also assists clients in identifying and implementing value-enhancing strategies.
