Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Workshops for P.Eng. Applicants

Are you preparing for the P.Eng. competency-based assessment (CBA)? Our Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Workshops for P.Eng. applicants (Workshop A & B) will guide you through the process and help you gain confidence to successfully complete your CBA submission. P.Eng. applicants are required to complete a minimum of 48 months of verifiable engineering experience through the CBA model, which was introduced by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) in 2023 and is used by other provincial regulators like BC, SK, MB, ON, NB, PEI, and NL.

The CBA evaluates 34 core engineering competencies in 7 categories, including technical skills, communication, project management, and professional accountability. These workshops will help you navigate the CBA system, ensuring you are fully prepared for licensure in any Canadian province. Whether you’re just beginning the process or need to refine your competencies, this workshop series will give you the clarity and skills needed to succeed.

Why Attend the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) Workshops?

Our two-part CBA Workshops (Workshop A + Workshop B) provide in-depth guidance on how to write and submit your CBA. Each session is 4 hours long, covering different competencies with common elements, allowing you to start with either workshop. After progressing with your CBA, you can attend the next session to reflect, ask questions, and continue practicing more competencies.

The Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) system ensures that professional engineering licensure upholds public interest by maintaining an equitable, transparent, and consistent process. Since May 2023, PEO has no longer required one year of Canadian experience, meaning international experience is eligible for consideration. By attending these workshops, you can refine your competencies and submit your best work to provincial regulators, getting licensed faster.
